Avoid like the plague

Avoid like the plague

For the second time in 3 years I wandered in to AB to enjoy the pictures of the ladies. Spent way too much money, got nowhere and proved without a shadow of a doubt that countless ladies there were nothing more than pictures.

I also proved some were real - but their pictures were so outdated I likened it to seeing an ad for a new Ferrari, arriving and finding a beat-up old Chevy. Others were real but hired. In one case, about 8 weeks before AB CS could come up with a real picture from her agency. That case is still open however I don't expect resolution in my favor - that would be absolute proof of the existence of fake profiles on AB if I was to receive credit for my wasted funds.

Think about it - offer a model or a pretty face x amount to use her photos, post them there and reap the profits. Pretty simple scam.

The problem is not specifically Anastasia (the website), the problem is the agencies and sub-agencies that provide the profiles. Now of course...AB is not going to bite the hand that feeds them - I suspect that they already are losing ground at a great rate as reviews like this come about and while we can all be fooled for a little while...unless we are really stupid, it just doesn't last.

Simple example: hover their 'confirmed profile' tag they attach to each lady's profile. It is absolutely meaningless to you and I.

Note the ID numbers of the ladies. At the time of this writing any lady in the 150000 range has outdated pictures and she's probably long gone or now not the same lady at all (physically). If she is not there her agency will gladly play along and help empty your pockets. Newest ladies are in the 190000 range (at this moment) so if you are in to some punishment, try to stay with the higher numbers. Odds are that much better you *may* find someone real. Still not good odds though.

It is simply not a healthy website. I have close to 200 letters in to AB customer service with subjects covering the fakes, the inappropriate chat invitations, bogus letters sent by god knows who, website flaws, lack of controls, lack of features...it's a big list and nothing has come of it to any degree at all. Brushed aside "we'll advise you on that", "thank you for your comments" - nothing happens of any consequence. Good team but ultimately they are working for themselves, their paycheck and Anastasia. "Customer" remains far too low on their list of priorities.

If you do for some odd reason choose to hang out at AB and write with a lady, ask for a real picture immediately - not a studio one - a natural that still holds its picture properties (right-click - properties if and when you get it). You can see the date and time and that's a pretty good start. If she will not provide this, move on.

If a lady does not accept gifts or flowers, ask CS to request the option immediately. If she won't, move on. She is either a fake or hiding something - usually (sadly) age and 'mileage' if you know what I mean. ;-) If she does, make sure you send something 'odd' or unusual from their overpriced gift selection - they do keep a stock of 'lady holding roses', 'lady holding chocolates' pictures so you ultimately can not even trust that unless perhaps she tattoos your name on her forehead for the picture or holds up a current newspaper. Never 'gift' a lady at her birthday as you and a dozen other men are all going to get the same picture and the extra loot we can speculate is now in the coffers of the agencies, gift service and AB.

So when you take all this and compare to the countless other dating sites out there, no matter what - it is NOT worth the headache - trust me...please.

Oh, one other thing - I do not feel that AB should be permitted to post a review of their own website here. It is obviously biased and I can reply to it that there is nothing offered that is in reality 'free' - okay...free headaches and time wasted... guaranteed.

Happy hour? That means nothing - just a quantity of time you are more likely to get scammed out of more of your money as there are more ladies in attendance.

Presentations? That might be the somewhat sad and lame videos of old-timers who have actually gone the distance with the tours Anastasia offers? "There's no fool like an old fool" comes to mind.

And "happy couples"? Last I checked, there were maybe a half-dozen. Period. Not such a good success rate for a site that boasts 15k ladies and 2 million suckers - um...sorry, men. At least ChnLove has pages and pages of them so if you do choose to spend this sort of money, I won't recommended it but it would certainly be a better choice.

To sum it up - do yourself a favor and find an alternative. I don't know if in this review I am permitted to recommend so editors...edit away as you choose, but I have found (IMHO) Chineselovelinks is outstanding. A reasonable fee, complete freedom, real pictures and more lovely ladies than you can handle. That's a hard earned tip by the way thank you very much AB ($$) and I have no affiliation with that site, more that I feel obliged to help other gents 'get real' and avoid AB and its sister sites before you lose pockets full of hard earned money too.

Best wishes and I do help this review is helpful to anyone who is sincerely trying to find their soul mate through the internet.

Pros
There are no pros.

Cons
Too many to list - please read the review. Thank you.

Looks like you got the gist of this web site. It is really an avoid at all cost operation, pretty effective at cleaning your wallet high and dry. Let me offer you some additional comments to show you how the system works
from the other side. A former client, I ended up fraternizing with some of the people and got close to the full story.

Here we go...

Beyond the operation at AB stands an ever growing number of so called agencies, each of them with different agenda and policies, but
all of them in the game to make money from of gullible foreign men.

1. The semi-honest agencies
Some of agencies are legitimate marriage agencies that do try to find suitable mates for their female clients. Yet, for the most part their clients are older ladies who for one reason or another are having a hard time finding a match in China, or who were cheated before and want to try their luck with a foreigner. In the best case these agencies may partially bend the facts (age, marriage status) and modify the pictures to make their clients more appealing.

To man the operation, these agencies do bring in some recent college graduates to sit on the computer all day and "represent" the
ladies. A typical worker in that environment handles up to 16-20 ladies at once. This means taking care of most of the correspondence. Once a
foreign man proves more committed the employee/translator may indeed communicate with the real lady and tell her she has an interested
party. In the end you may even meet the real lady in China, even though the other party may not be aware of all the correspondence and may look a little different from the pictures. This is probably the best case scenario, something more likely to happen if the lady is over 30.

Now it does not take long for an agency manager to figure out that such business model, while moderately lucrative, is akin to slow growth. Being honest probably does not pay that much. This brings us to the next topic.

2. The upgraded agencies
To infuse a dose of high octane growth factor into their business, some agencies, in fact most agencies on the AB website decide to upgrade their business model. Now the idea is to beef up their "offering " with a slew of attractive young ladies. That way they can makemoney from the older lady clients, attract more men, and get more chat money as well. What you do then is to push your employees to reach out to their universities, to their contact network, or even to contact some of the local model apprentice schools for suitable subjects. There are many variations here, strike a deal individually, or strike a deal with a company but the end result is the same. For a fee (can be from 500 to 5000 Rmb per person depending on the beauty of the subject) these ladies accept to get a picture set and possibly a video taken. Once this is done, a fake name is attached to hide
the identity of the person and a new sexy profile is generated to act as a bait. Needless to say, employees get compensated for bringing in such prospects. Now the agencies and employees make money on each letter they write or receive, and each minute they chat with the unsuspecting customer. I believe the going rate for 10 minute conversation is about 3 Rmb, so the person on the
other side stands to make 9 Rmb for a half hour of inspired "you are so nice" type of conversation. Please notice that at that rate the agency and overall web site make 90% of the profit while the lady slaving behind the computer only gets peanuts.

In the case of a phone call, you guessed it already. the person on the other side is certainly not the real person, just some other girl in the office, or a friend of the employee, ready to play dumb for a few extra Rmb.

In the case of pictures, some profiles occasionally iclude real pictures, something that makes the lady look all the more real. but do not be fooled. The translator may have access to the fake girl QQ account, allowing the translator/employee to snatch up real pictures from their profile page.

Some ladies do include a live picture mode so you can see who you are talking to. The trick here is that most of those ladies are the translators/employee themselves. It allows them to earn twice the connection fee, or about 6Rmb/ 10minutes. This means the translator may have generated a profile on their own and chat on their own behalf. Since sitting in some kind of cubicle may become suspicious, some clever agencies do yield access to the system outside of their facilities, so it may really look like a genuine person chatting from home.

Some of us may at some point ask for personal contact, chat room and cell phone numbers. Occasionally it is possible to get the information, but no matter what it is almost certainly a phone number from a friend or from the translator herself. Over time it makes it difficult for these employees to keep a lid on their secret, so the phone number tends to change often.

Now for this kind of agencies, the problem is what to do when a client decides to come to China to meet his match. More often than not they will come up with all kinds of excuses, that the lady had to go back to her hometown, etc. In another case, the agency will pay the real lady to have a fake date, perhaps lasting an hour or so, upon which she will say she feels the man is not suitable.
Now the real face of the company can come out and they will take out of their hats a bunch of older, less attractive ladies to choose from, real ladies this time. Once a man is in China and realizes he did not get to meet the Chinese
beauty of his dream, some may be tempted to revise their expectations.... This is what the bait was there for in the first place.

In another variation, some translators may feel they can no longer handle the deception much longer, so they may appear to confess...just to pose as an older lady the next time around....

Now obviously, this system can become quite a bit taxing for the translators, a lot of work and deception for little money. Many of them quit fairly soon ... just to be replaced by a fresh one. Then you may notice someone who does not remember
anything of what was said before. Others may be more ambitious, decide to quit and open a new agency to earn quick money.

This brings us naturally to our next topic.

3. The perfect scam
In the next evolution of our business model, some agencies may decide to focus on the foreigner fees and forget the lady clients altogether. In this case, all you do is to build a nice honeypot with plenty of gorgeous looking young sweeties and wait for the foreign insects to come glued to the system and spend time online. In this case there is literally no lady to meet, it is all about keeping men online and hooked for as long and regularly as possible. When a profile becomes compromised, then it is essential to keep new fresh ones coming. To avoid being to obvious, it is recommended to assign different cities to the ladies. Some fake profiles may even be traded to other agencies to make sure there are products for all types of men. Cute ones, tall ones, curvy ones. Based on the success of certain types of profiles, new ladies filling the successful profile types are actively prospected/traded. This business model also goes one step further in actively marketing the profiles, sending letters, monitoring customer page views, etc. Without any real marriage counseling going on, this business does not require a license and can be open with a server, a few computers with an internet connection and a Photoshop software. Quick and easy indeed.

In here any man gullible enough to go to China may end up showing up half way around the world just to find out he was taken in. No attempt will be make to fix him up with someone else.

This is a fast and furious business model with even more turn around amid the staff. Most quit within a few month or a few weeks. It is also the fastest growing section, fast replacing whatever legitimate Marriage introduction business there was on AB. One more note, some of the employees on these sites are actually young men. So those of you still chatting in there may be chatting with such people.

Most of what is said here also stands for Chnlove.com. At least on this site it is easier to track down the agencies themselves. If you see any company with 100% young girls then you should know you are dealing with a scam agency. Those agencies with a mix of ladies are probably upgraded ones. Then those with a lower number of ladies and more older ladies may belong to the first
category.

This business will certainly continue to evolve, but for anyone reading these line, just try to control your own impulse. When something looks too good to be true. then the reality is just that, it is just not real. Get out and close your profile ASAP..This advice was given to me by translators themselves.

Finally bear in mind that many of the ladies who work in these shacks have nothing but contempt for these stupid foreigners who like to see their ego boasted and their interest aroused just by saying things like "I would love to cuddle with you on the couch every night". Note these expressions are learned from other customers themselves, and a database of such expressions are being compiled for all employees to access. Some of them once told me "All we do is make money from these sleazy foreigners, what is wrong with that?"

Now some odd things may happen, like seeing a translator genuinely taking a liking for the men they talk to. Yet in the end, just stay away from AsianBeauties.com or Chnlove.com. Get out fast from that insanity. I hope these comments will enlighten you all.

Thanks for this thread!
Unfortunately I read it too late, after I spent almost 1,000$ before realizing it's a scam.

It's very important to warn everyone about this site.
