So this review is going to be broadly positive about IE hence will be dismised by some as sponsored promotion - it's not. I'm a male from London who's been using IE on and off over the last 4 years. Negatives first: it is indeed expensive; the attempts to hook you in after creating a profile (but before paying up) by random obviously system-generated hellos from specious profiles is extremely annoying (but you learn to ignore these and it does seem to have eased up thankfully of late); the time-pressure on male members to secure a date/relationship within the fee window skews the playing field; and the membership claims are obviously wildly inflated (I agree that the active membership at any one time can be numbered in the hundreds not thousands).
All that said...I have had 5 paid memberships on IE at 6-9 month intervals since 2013. On every one of these I have had several "dates" following correspondence on the site and on every one also I have entered into at least one physical relationship, typically more than one. Of course not every correspondence leads anywhere, any more than on any other dating/adult site, and again as everywhere else it's a "seller's" market for women. But from my expeience, if you compose an engaging profile, write a decent email (tailored to the recipient, not cut and paste) and are prepared to cast your net widely IE does in fact work. (If you're outside a metropolitan area, as others have noted, it's ound to be more difficult.)

Lovely female friendly site. Photos are password protected so you only have to show people you want. Generally the men are very polite and well mannered, just the odd pushy one here and there. The real issue is there aren't a huge number of members, its probably okay if you live in a city but in more rural areas there may be only a few and obviously chemistry is important. I'm guessing the high cost puts it out of reach of a lot of men which is a real shame as the site would be great otherwise.

I just wanted to write an honest review.... as a lot of the above seem very negative!!! I joined IE just over a month ago and can honestly say I've never been happier. I joined without paying and very soon, of course, realised that unless you fork out serious money you might as well not be there.
It is a lot and I made sure I took the minimum subscription out. I paid on Wednesday, was in contact with several genuine ladies by Wednesday night and was in bed with a very nice lady on Thursday!
OK...I'm late 40's and the ladies I'm looking for are 40 to 60's and not super models by any means. Even so it was almost frighteningly easy to meet good genuine people.

I agree with most of the reviews on here. I've been on and off IE for several years. I paid to join twice and have met several ladies from the site. my advice is as follows:
1) Bad - A lot of female profiles on this site are 'fake', they are set up by the website admin or commissioned scammers. They know that gullible men are led by their d*cks and not their brains and as such are gullible and fork out loadsamoney in order to get sex.
2) Bad - This site should stop 'Free' membership for ladies as it encourages bored neglected housewives with nothing better to do with their days to go online and lead men on. However the site won't make them pay as it's them that get the gullible men to join and pay up.
3) Good(ish) - I did meet 4 ladies in the 2 times i joined. three of them I met only once and they weren't interested and the fourth was a raving nymphomaniac who in all honesty I couldnt handle as she was totally bonkers.. Her and hubby were in an open relationship and shagging their way round the whole of Kent. But heck she was gorgeous :) !!!!

I have joined on 5 occasions in the last four years. Am pretty average...and have slept with 14 women from the site, from a stunning 28 year old, to a gorgeous late-thirtysomething, to a saggy old 52 year old, and everything in between. I have been a member of this site on two separate occasions and have had two long lasting affairs with two very genuine guys. I can't confirm or deny the comments regarding fake female profiles, but one thing that should be drawn to the attention of anyone joining this site is:-
When searching for members be aware that if their status says last on line "over a week ago", it could be that they havent been an active member of the site for 6 months, even a year or more. IE do not delete the profiles of members who have left the site, nor do they make it easy to delete your profile. In fact this is virtually impossible. You would have to email the site administration and ask them to delete it on your behalf, however this does not always happen. SO BEWARE ...... this makes IE look like they have far, far more active members than they actually have.

I've been a 'Gold' member for two months now. Yes, it costs, but if you get an offer it's much cheaper than it initially looks. So far have actually met with 4 ladies from my area, all of whom were pleasant enough, and two I have carried on to second and third dates with.
You do have to put some effort in though - actually writing a decent profile, adding pictures (even if they're not of you)...all of that helps. Men going on here looking for effortless hook-ups should just go and pay for it. If you want to meet a living, breathing, thinking female for something a bit more intimate, it's a good place to start. The average lady on there seems a bit more articulate/interesting than those I've seen on similar sites. They seem to keep on top of most scammers - though, like any dating site, it's not entirely scam-free.
Search functions are pretty basic though...would be nice if there were more options to narrow searches, aside from location and age.

I've been a member of many dating sites both for singles and marrieds. Compared to the others, I found Illicit Encounters to be a refreshing experience. The ladies I've spoken to seem real and the 4 I've met in the flesh were undoubtedly genuine!! Like all dating sites, the women want to be wooed with wit and creativity. I first joined Illicit Encounters about a year ago. As a natural sceptic and having had bad experiences on other dating sites I initially baulked at the high price. However after quite a few messages from ladies had built up in my Inbox temptation got the better of me and I paid to become a full member. I immediately got into a conversation with several ladies. What was refreshing was that they were unquestionably real! We had proper flirty chats and I arranged to meet one in person. It took a while though. I guess having an affair is a big step, so building up to a meeting in the flesh probably took longer than on a site like match.com. However what I liked was that the lady in question and I were in the same boat, with the same desires and expectations.
