I'm glad I stumbled upon these honest reviews. I have been trying JapanCupid for about a year now and I will never pay for an upgrade. All the bad reviews are consistent with my experience, especially, the fake "someone is interested in you" incidents. Now, I'm not saying their service "won't work" as I have virtually met a few seemingly legit people. All I am saying is I will never pay for a service if there is something suspicious going on. Looks great on the surface, but make sure to have patience and look deeper before you decide on the membership upgrade.
